The Best Wicked Tickets – Your Chance to Be Closer to Your Heroes

Half of the success Wicked has known throughout its last 8 years on Broadway is the merit of characters you can easily meet by buying the best Wicked tickets. By watching the show, you get the chance to stay close to a different category, that of the beautiful, sensitive and talented actors who do not read their lines on a prompter and cannot redo the scenes that go wrong. The two and a half hours of beauty you witness from your seats in the audience are the results of hundreds of hours of rehearsal, individual study and hard work. It is only fair that the results of these efforts be evaluated from the best seats, with the best view and the best sounding, so that you can capture the essence of every scene and live every moment to its maximum intensity.

By buying the best Wicked tickets you pay a homage not only to yourself and your taste for arts, but also to the amazing cast that turned such a difficult and twisted story into a challenging and entertaining adventure. Maguire’s story could not have known a better staging than what the team formed by David Stone (producer), Joe Mantello (director), Wayne Cilento (choreographer) and Eugene Lee (designer) accomplished.

A World of Favorable Reviews Has Led to the Craze for the Best Wicked Tickets

A World of Favorable Reviews Has Led to the Craze for the Best Wicked Tickets

Reviews make the success and the value of any Broadway show, but you need the best Wicked tickets to discover the play that has rendered critics speechless.

What began as a mediocre story on the stage or the Curran Theatre in San Francisco, later developed into the wonder of the musicals and took the front page of many newspapers and magazines, giving birth to titles like “Something Wicked & Wildly Successful This Way Comes”, “Wicked Times” or “A Recognizably Wicked World” (Boston Globe).

What David Stone (the producer) conceived as a show “about understanding that people are much more complicated than you give them credit for”, caught wings and began to analyze the relation between bad and evil, and how easy one can turn from victim to oppressor and vice-versa.

When you buy the best Wicked tickets, you in fact buy the ticket to a wonderful world that conquered the hearts of the critics and numerous prizes throughout the years. Thus, the ten nominalizations for Tony Awards finally brought along three trophies, for Best Actress (Idina Menzel), Best Costume Design, and Best Scenic Design. In the same year, Wicked was nominated for 11 Drama Desk Awards and obtained supremacy in six categories, among which Book, Music, Director and Costumes.

The Grammy Award received in 2005 for The Best Musical Show Album was just the cherry on top of the pie, considering that the show gathered a total number of 32 awards from the 63 nominations, and not a single year has passed since the grand premiere without at least a nomination.

Therefore, if you were thinking that the best Wicked tickets would get you front seats to a story for children, you might want to reconsider. According to Boston Globe, the show is a smart recreation of the American economical and political landscape and the characters are personifications of predominant political figures of the time.

Whether you are looking for social addiction, manipulation or integrity, it is all in there, modeled by the views and talent of the production team and wrapped in the sensitivity and romance of the musical frame.

All the favorable reviews in the world could not make up for the joy and fulfillment that come with the best Wicked tickets and the honor of witnessing the history of the Broadway’s most successful story.

Wicked, Wickedly Award-Winning

Wicked, Wickedly Award-Winning

When Wicked hit the stage at the Gershwin Theater in 2003 it was met with luke-warm critical reception and overwhelming adoration by the patrons.  It quickly became one of the most successful and best loved musicals of all time, demonstrated by it’s resounding success garnering awards.  In 2004 Wicked was nominated for 10 Tony Awards: Best Musical, Book, Orchestration, Original Score, Choreography, Costume Design, Lighting Design, Scenic Design, and two nominations for Best Actress.  That year Idina Menzel won Best Actress for the musical and Wicked also claimed Best Scenic Design and Best Lighting Design.

In that same year the musical also  won 6 of 11 Drama Desk Award nominations, the winning categories were Outstanding New Musical, Book, Director, Orchestration, Lyrics, and Costume Design.  It also won 4 of 10 Outer Critics Circle Award nominations.  In 2005 the original cast won the Grammy for Best Musical Show Album.  Wicked has accumulated 32 awards and 63 nominations since it opened in 2003.  It has been nominated every year for at least one award.  Some less well-known awards include Broadway.com which awarded Wicked the Favorite Actress in a Musical, Favorite Diva Performance, Favorite Musical, and Favorite Onstage Pair, sweeping its nominations from that source.

Off-Broadway productions  have enjoyed similar success.  The North American tour has acquired 12 awards in 14 nominations.  The Chicago production received 5 Joseph Jefferson Award nominations and the West End show has been nominated for 5 Laurence Olivier Awards and won the Audience Award for Most Popular Show in 2010.  The Australian production won 6 of 12 Helpmann Award nominations.  Entertainment Weekly has showed particular affection for Wicked, naming it Best Musical of the Decade while Variety magazine called it a “cultural phenomenon”.  Entertainment Weekly also named Elphaba 79th on its list of 100 Greatest Characters of the Past 20 Years.

Wicked in Pop Culture

Wicked in Pop Culture

Any cultural phenomenon as successful and beloved as Wicked is going to find its way into other parts of the media.  There aren’t many people with access to the internet or television who have not heard of Wicked by now, at least in passing.  The novel and musical combine to reach most entertainment tastes.  The musical is becoming a part of pop culture nomenclature.  It can be seen in movies and television.

Wicked has been referenced and even used as a staple plot point in Brothers & Sisters, The War At Home, Ugly Betty, The Simpsons, and Glee.  In Brothers & Sisters and The War At Home the Broadway production of Wicked was featured as a setting and significant occurrence for the episode.  In Ugly Betty the film crew visited the Pantages Theater to recreate a “Broadway” production of the musical that they can interrupt for comedic purposes.  This following an episode in which Betty gets tickets to see Wicked and finds herself relating powerfully with Elphaba for most of the episode.  The Simpsons takes a similar approach, though requiring a far less authentic recreation, in which Homer and Moe find themselves accidentally in a Springfield production of the musical.

The musical show Glee took the homage to a higher level.  Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth were both given recurring characters on the show, both integral to the plot and allowed to demonstrate their musical talent.  Two songs from Wicked have also been performed by the Glee cast on the show: Defying Gravity and For Good, the later actually performed on the Gershwin Stage.  Both songs were sung by Lea Michele and Chris Colfer.  Parodies of Wicked’s memorable characters and musical numbers have appeared many times as well including the movie Zombieland, the television shows Red Garden, Passions, and Huge, and the Buffy and the Vampire Slayer graphic novel.

Wicked Success

Wicked Success

Ever since opening night in 2003, Wicked has played to capacity crowds.  It was an instant success in terms of popularity and the critics quickly realized that they were dealing with an uncommon musical marvel.  On average it grosses over $1 million a week, making it the second highest weekly grossing musical ever.  Even with a surprisingly high capitalization of $14 million, the production broke even after just 15 months.  Wicked grossed over $56 million its first year out.  On January 1, 2006 Wicked broke the Producer’s record for the highest box office in one week with $1,610,934.  The Los Angeles production achieved a similar achievement on March 4, 2007 when it grossed $1,786,110, making it the highest grossing attraction in the history of Los Angeles theater.

Wicked continued to break its own records on both coasts over the next few years.  In November 2006 it peaked on Broadway at $1,715,155 and over the holiday season in 2007 it shattered that record again with $1,839,950.  During that time, the show set new records in Los Angeles, Chicago, and St. Louis with $1,949,968, $1,418,363, and $2,291,608 respectively.  There were also seven worldwide productions at this time that collectively grossed over $11.2 million.  The Chicago production was planned to run for 18 months before moving on,  but it opened to a $1.4 million week and kept growing so the producers added another road show and kept the Chicago production running.  Wicked went on to become the longest running and most successful Broadway musical in the history of Chicago.

On November 29, 2009 Wicked grossed $2,086,135, making it the first musical in history to gross over $2 million in one week.  It broke its own record twice more that holiday season and still continued to grow.  During the next year’s holiday season, Wicked hit its all time high of $2,228,235.
